DevOps Engineer

Work with Architecture & Dev teams to manage infrastructure & build solutions using the latest delivery techniques and modern technologies.

At CES, we have ambitious targets to keep billions of drink containers out of landfill and transform them into resources that can be used again and again.

Our Engineers are a vital part of the CES team and we are looking for a DevOps all-rounder with modern tech skills to help us in our mission.

As part of the DevOps team, you will work closely with the broader Engineering and Architecture teams to build solutions using the latest delivery techniques and guide others on the journey. You enjoy looking for creative ideas and solutions to complex problems.

Our projects are heavily Java container focused on Kubernetes, using both EKS and Oracle Kubernetes Engine, so you will need good knowledge of the Kubernetes ecosystem and the tools and processes to manage and scale this infrastructure.

You will help improve the Developer experience and up-skill developers to work in the latest Cloud Native technologies and containerised environments.

We work in a hybrid format to help you fit work around your life, and our IT team get together twice a week in our office to collaborate (and enjoy the incredible harbour views!).

Key deliverables of the role include:

Kubernetes & Cloud Management:

• Deploy, configure, and optimize Kubernetes clusters.

• Maintain cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, OCI, Azure).

• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IAC) principles.

CI/CD & Automation:

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.

• Automate application deployment and testing.

Monitoring & Security:

• Set up monitoring and alerting systems.

• Implement security best practices.

About you:

• 3+ years of DevOps experience with Kubernetes and cloud experience (AWS or OCI).

• Advanced Knowledge of Kubernetes administration

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation

• CI/CD and automation expertise.

• Solid understanding of Linux.

• Strong programming & scripting skills (e.g., NodeJs, Python, Javascript plus Bash or Shell scripting)

• Experience managing distributed event streaming/processing technologies like Kafka

• Experience with Service Meshes like Istio or Likerd would be highly regarded but not required.

• Experience with logging (Loki or Splunk etc) and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog.

• Familiarity with Github (and Actions) and Git-based workflows, or Bitbucket.

• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL

• Solid understanding of networking and security

• Collaborative team player

• Excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills
